In this article: Joe Lefeged (2006)

Joe Lefeged, a recruit from Maryland, has been playing free safety for the second team and played a big part in Tenafly's Jabu Lovelace being intercepted during one drill. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Lefeged blitzed Lovelace, who was picked by Hackensack's Devon Smart. "He's got a very good football mind and he's very athletic," Rutgers coach Greg Schiano said. "That's not a bad two things to have." Coach Greg Schiano said during Sunday's Media Day press conference that he particularly has been impressed with true freshmen Joe Lefeged. Lefeged is a defensive back from Germantown, Md. "Lefeged is working with the second team at the safety spot," Schiano said. "He's got a chance [to play this year as a true freshman], but he's still figuring it all out. It's an awful lot to process. And our offense does an awful lot. So you take our defense and you multiply it by all the things our offense does, it can get confusing. Physically, he shows some real skills."
